Grassroots Landscape Inc. designs, installs, and maintains both residential and commercial landscapes.
Additionally, April has had the opportunity to work with the City of Boulder Parks and Rec. in the development a hidden jewel and neighborhood pocket park, (Fortune Park at 4th and Canyon). Through the generosity of one of Boulder’s amazing citizens, the park has been turned into a community hub in west Boulder. Kids play in the once overgrown park and friends laugh and eat their picnic lunches under the shade of one of Boulder’s oldest Catalpa trees. Through a community effort, 1/3 of the park was taken under the wing of Growing Gardens (a community non-profit bringing together Boulder’s residents with small neighborhood vegetable gardens).
The next phase for Fortune Park was to create Boulder County’s first composting and vermiculture (worm bin) education site. This was a collabarative effort of Legislator Tom Plant (Director of the Office of Energy Management and Conservation for Colorado), Eco cycle, Resource 2000, Colorado State University extension service, Growing Gardens, and once again the help of an amazing Boulder resident for private funding. April is working with the Master Composting Program and the CSU extension service to teach the basics of composting at this Composting Education Site.
April incorporates education with installation whenever possible, once again following the belief that our impact on nature is never stagnant.
