GRASSROOTS EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH
April’s belief system revolves around community (local and “whole world“) and environmental education. Her current outreach projects are:
- ECOCYCLE OF BOULDER: The compost is in the works! April is working with the hope and inspiration of bringing a working composting program to the Yucatan in Mexico. Our goal is to bring education through environmentally responsible practices including: soil sustainability, composting and re-using of resources, and education of the environmental damages caused by human waste to the Barrier reef (the worlds second largest reef is dying). One world, one people, one responsibility.
- TULUM MEXICO: April also worked with a local nursery in Tulum, Mexico to create a composting education program and sustainable soil education class for Mexican Landscape Professionals in the Yucatan/Quintaroo area.
- MASTER COMPOSTING: After receiving her Master Composting certification through the CSU extension service, April joined forces with Resource 2000 in Boulder. Using community funding, together they've created Colorado's first compost and worm bin education site at a local pocket park, Fortune Park, at the corner of 4th and Canyon in Boulder.
- CONTINUING EDUCATION: Combining world travel with studies of diverse global xeric design, April actively gathers resources and information from the low water environments of our world neighbors.
